AVG Image Shrinker is a free app for your Android phone or tablet that is designed to reduce image sizes in order to help save mobile data when sharing photos and images. Shrink sizes are fully customizable, and AVG Image Shrinker lets you share them directly from the app via email or upload to popular social networks like Facebook, Picasa, Instagram, and more.
What are the minimum system requirements for installing and running AVG Image Shrinker?
To install and run AVG Image Shrinker, you need a smartphone or tablet running Android 2.1 or higher.
Can I use the app on both a smartphone and tablet?
Yes. AVG Image Shrinker can run on both Android phones and tablets, but the app layout is phone oriented.
Which file types are supported?
AVG Image Shrinker can handle JPEG, PNG, and BMP images.
What is the recommended way to shrink images while sharing?
After installing the app, whenever you wish to share an image, the AVG Image Shrinker icon will be presented in the list of ‘Share via’ apps. Tapping this icon will open a list of possible apps to use for sharing.
AVG Image Shrinker will automatically shrink the images to an optimized size for that app and will open the app with your shrunken image already in it.
Will shrinking an image delete the original?
No. The new shrunken image is saved to a separate folder, and the original image is left unchanged in its original location. (Deleting the original image or images is also possible, however. You’ll have this option in the dialogue box when shrinking your images.)
Tapping the “Shrunk images” feature lets you view your shrunken images and share them from this location by tapping the “Share” button. (A maximum of 10 images can be shared simultaneously.)
Can I shrink only images saved in my “Gallery”?
No. AVG Image Shrinker scans your entire phone or tablet for images. All images found will be presented to you in the “Images” feature menu.
What are the “Images” menu options?
In the “Images” menu you can:
Use “Select all” to choose all images for shrinking
Decide how to view your images: a. View as “Tiles” b. View as “List”
You can sort images by: Size (largest) Date (most recent) Name (ascending or descending order)
Can I shrink multiple images at once?
Yes. You can shrink one or more images simultaneously, and your new shrunken images will be saved to the “Shrunk images” folder.
How do I choose which apps can use AVG Image Shrinker for sharing?
AVG Image Shrinker’s settings let you choose which apps can share images using AVG Image Shrinker, as well as the default shrink sizes for each app.
An ON/OFF switch can be found next to the name of each app with image sharing abilities. Use this to enable or disable an app from using AVG Image Shrinker when sharing.
By default, all apps that can share images except “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi Direct” are set to use AVG Image Shrinker when sharing.
What shrink sizes are available?
The possible shrink sizes are:
AVG Recommended (Max. 800x600 resolution)
Small (Max. 640x480 resolution)
